Job Zone d’emploi has been providing assistance and helpful resources to employers in the city of Cornwall, counties of Stormont and Dundas, for over the past 26 years. Whether you are an employer looking to hire, or laying off employees due to downsizing, restructuring, or closure we can help you. Our services are free and confidential.

Job Zone d’emploi offers: 

·         Posting of job openings

·         Employee Mentoring/Job Coaching

·         Referral of Job Candidates

·         Interview Rooms

·         Assistance and support for Laid Off employees

·         Information on Community and Government Resources

·         Apprenticeship Resources and Information

·         Possible employer subsidies for eligible job seekers

·         Access to a comprehensive resource library

 Job Matching and Placement

Participants Must: 

• be eligible for the program
• not quit a full-time job to participate in the program
• have conducted a job search but are unable to find work due to perceived barriers

 Employers Must: 

• provide employment in Ontario
• put participants on their payroll and must be paid at least minimum wage
• provide full-time or part-time hours
• offer proper training and adequate supervision
• comply with the Health and Safety Act and the Employment Standards Act
• be licensed to operate in Ontario, have a Federal Business number, Third Party Liability Insurance and appropriate safety insurance coverage either through the Workplace Safety Insurance Board (WSIB) or private insurance company
• negotiate a placement contract with a Job Developer from Job Zone d’emploi (the length and amount of the contract varies depending on the position and the participant’s qualifications)
• give Job Zone d’emploi five working days to find a candidate before sending their own candidates in to Job Zone d’emploi to register

Employers Must Not: 

• use placement services to replace existing or laid-off employees
• begin placement prior to having the placement contract signed
• hire a relative, i.e. son, daughter, spouse, brother, sister, etc.
• be an Employment Ontario Employment Service provider 

As well, employers must commit to: 

• developing a relevant training/work experience plan that will help the participant achieve his/her employment goal
• providing feedback and assessments of a participant’s skill level
• having potential for long-term employment/contract position for the participant

Student Centre

If you are looking to hire a student, you may post with Job Zone d'emploi year round, at no cost!   

Certain participants are eligible for training wage subsidies from the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities - Employment Ontario.

Ontario Disabilities Support Program - Employment Services

Employment Supports helps people with disabilities who are competitively employable and want to work to prepare for and maintain a job.

Summer Jobs Service

This program operates from April 1st to September 30th, and services students between the ages of 15 and 30 who are planning to return to school in the Fall; this program also assists eligible employers with the hiring of summer students by providing a $2.00 per hour wage subsidy.  Employers in the County of Glengarry should contact La Cité collégiale (contact information listed below).

Summer Jobs For Youth

The objective of this program is to provide youth (between 15 and 18) with employability skills.  The program includes job readiness training and support, paid employment placements for July and August and post-employment support.  Employers in the County of Glengarry should contact GIAG (contact information listed below).
