Santa Claus

You will:

• Portray Santa Claus in full costume during the Alight at Night program
• Engage visitors, predominantly children, with appropriate Santa Claus-related dialogue, pose for photographs, and ensure a positive and memorable experience
• Work evenings and weekends in November and December
• Embody the SLPC’s equity, diversity and inclusion principles while interacting with staff and guests.

MANDATORY:

• Conditional upon successful candidate being granted required security clearance for this position (Vulnerable Service Sector check).
• The ability to work evenings and weekends.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

• The ability to portray Santa Claus.
• Knowledge of the history of Santa Claus and his role during the holiday/Christmas season.
• Knowledge of current children’s gifts and toys.
• Knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act as it pertains to the work being performed.

CUSTOMER SERVICE AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS

• Excellent customer service and communications skills to communicate and interact effectively with children and adults.

TIME MANAGEMENT AND TEAMWORK SKILLS

• The ability to work independently and in a team.
• The ability to work under pressure in a busy environment.
• Strong time management skills to monitor and adjust the amount of interaction with each visitor in order to maintain visitor flow and prevent lengthy wait times.

OTHER SKILLS

• The ability to interact with dogs and cats for the purpose of taking photographs, if required.
