Farm Hand

We are seeking a dedicated, reliable and ambitious individual to work as a Farm Hand on our family Beef, Sheep and Crop farms. We require a full-time farm hand that is loyal and will operate the farm as well as care for the animals like they were your own.

Working hours may depend on weather and livestock schedule. At times this may mean weekends evenings holidays as livestock care is 24/7. We do our best to accommodate wherever possible. However, the nature of farming means we cannot offer a 9 AM to 5 PM position. Candidates seeking a strict 9 AM to 5 PM work schedule are asked not to reply to this ad.

Work includes feeding animals regularly, daily chores, planting, cultivating and harvesting crops. The candidate must have the ability to operate farm and heavy equipment.

Physical work is required such as cleaning , doing hay, fencing, assist with sheep, shearing, moving cattle around, assisting them with birth and various other farm related tasks.

Although we would prefer someone with some farm or farm related experience, we are willing to train the right candidate. We are looking for an honest and ethical person who is willing to admit if they don’t know how to do something or a specific task, but they are eager to learn and try their best.

The ideal candidate will need to be able to be a self starter and manage their own workload accordingly, as throughout the day there will be various tasks that need to be completed such as or equipment, repair or feeding animals, etc.

Must have a great personality, be pleasant to work with and a team player. Needs to be a solver and have sound judgement as situations arise. Basic mechanical skills and construction skills will be considered as a big asset. Valid drivers license is a must.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planting, watering, fertilizing, and harvesting crops using appropriate tools and machinery
• Operate farm machinery and heavy equipment safely and efficiently
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment, including power tools and hand tools
• Support livestock care, including feeding, cleaning, and health monitoring
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the farm grounds and storage areas
• Assist with general farm tasks such as fencing, soil preparation, and pest control
• Follow safety protocols at all times to prevent accidents or injuries

• Prior experience working on a farm or in agricultural settings is preferred but not required; training will be provided for all necessary tasks
• Mechanical knowledge is advantageous for equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
• Familiarity with horticulture practices, and crop management is a plus
• Ability to operate farm machinery, power tools, and hand tools safely
• Basic math skills for measuring inputs and calculating quantities
• Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and operate heavy equipment for extended periods
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and adhere to safety standards

Licence/Certification:
