1: Policy

Job Zone d’emploi is committed to maintaining a safe, trustworthy, and transparent job board for job seekers and employers. As a public job posting platform, Job Zone d’emploi recognizes the risk of fraudulent or misleading job advertisements and the potential harm these postings may cause to individuals seeking employment.

While Job Zone d’emploi reviews concerns and may take action on postings, the organization does not independently verify all employers or guarantee the legitimacy of every job posting.

This policy establishes clear expectations, reporting mechanisms, and review procedures to help prevent fraudulent postings, support job seeker safety, and ensure compliance with applicable Ontario employment legislation related to publicly advertised job postings.

Job Zone d’emploi reserves the right to refuse, suspend, or remove any job posting at its sole discretion where there are reasonable concerns related to accuracy, legitimacy, safety, or compliance with applicable legislation.

This policy is posted in a conspicuous location on the Job Zone d’emploi job board in accordance with Ontario Employment Standards Act requirements.

2: Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to establish a clear process for identifying, reporting, reviewing, and addressing potentially fraudulent or misleading job postings on the Job Zone d’emploi job board.

This policy supports job seeker safety and helps ensure compliance with Ontario Employment Standards Act requirements related to publicly advertised job postings.

3: Scope

This policy applies to:

  • All job postings published on the Job Zone d’emploi public job board.
  • All employers who submit job postings to the platform.
  • All staff responsible for reviewing, managing, or removing job postings.

This policy applies regardless of whether postings are submitted directly by employers or through third-party representatives.

4: Responsibility

4.1 Job Board Administrator / Designated Staff are responsible for:

  • Monitoring and reviewing reported postings.
  • Investigating concerns related to potential fraud or misleading information.
  • Communicating with employers when clarification is required.
  • Removing or suspending postings when necessary.
  • Maintaining records related to reported concerns and actions taken.

4.2 Employers Posting Jobs are Responsible for:

  • Ensuring the accuracy of the content they submit.
  • Ensuring the legality of job postings and compliance with applicable legislation.
  • Ensuring the legitimacy of employment opportunities advertised.

Employers are solely responsible for the accuracy, legality, and legitimacy of the content they submit. Job Zone d’emploi may restrict or terminate an employer’s access to the job board for repeated or serious violations.

5: Definitions

Fraudulent Job Posting:

A job advertisement that is false, misleading, or reasonably suspected to be deceptive to job seekers. Examples may include, but are not limited to:

  • Jobs that do not represent real employment opportunities.
  • Requests for payment, banking information, or sensitive personal information before employment.
  • Misrepresentation of employer identity.
  • Misleading wages, duties, or working conditions.
  • Suspicious or deceptive recruitment practices.

Job Posting Platform:

The public job board operated by Job Zone d’emploi that allows employers to advertise employment opportunities.

Report:

A concern submitted by a job seeker, staff member, or member of the public regarding a job posting that may be fraudulent or misleading.

7: Procedure

7.1 Reporting a Concern

Job seekers or members of the public may report a potentially fraudulent or misleading posting by selecting the “Report this Posting” option on the job board.

Reports may be submitted anonymously.

7.2 Review Process

Upon receiving a report:

  • Designated staff will review the concern in a timely manner.
  • Staff may assess the posting for common fraud indicators, including but not limited to:
    • Requests for money or financial information
    • Suspicious employer details or contact information
    • Misleading or unrealistic job details
  • Staff may contact the employer for clarification when appropriate.

Job Zone d’emploi may take interim action, including temporary suspension of a posting, while a review is underway.

7.3 Actions

Based on the review, Job Zone d’emploi may:

  • Leave the posting active if no concern is identified.
  • Request clarification or revisions from the employer.
  • Temporarily suspend the posting during review.
  • Remove the posting if it is determined to be fraudulent, misleading, or non-compliant.

Job Zone d’emploi reserves the right to remove any posting that may pose a risk to job seekers or compromise the integrity of the job board.

7.4 Record Keeping

Reports and actions taken will be documented internally.

Copies of this policy and any updated versions will be retained for a minimum of three (3) years after a version is replaced.
