WHAT CAN I EXPECT TO DO IN THIS ROLE?
You will:
• Deliver Prompt and effective response to medical emergencies in a public setting
• Communicates and coordinates with other emergency services as necessary for the safe and timely transfer of ill or injured persons to medical facilities.
• Conduct patrols throughout Upper Canada Village to identify any need for first aid response among guests
• Ensure all first aid kits, AED’s, oxygen tanks and first aid room is fully stocked and ready for any operational needs.
• Prepare comprehensive documentation related to emergency responses and patient care
• Participate in the planning, implementation and delivery of public safety and emergency preparedness education programs.
• Maintains knowledge of and implements the Occupational Health and Safety Act to ensure all work is compliant with OH&S regulations.
• Embody the SLPC’s equity, diversity and inclusion principles while interacting with staff and guests.
Compétences/expérience requises
HOW DO I QUALIFY?
MANDATORY:
• First Responder Medical Certification
• Current Certification in Emergency First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
• Ability to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and statutory holidays, as per the schedule
• Physical fitness and the ability to navigate various terrains
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
• First Responder procedures and emergency response protocols to assess patients, providing necessary treatments, and using medical equipment effectively.
• Knowledge of when to call for additional emergency support is crucial.
• Familiarity with safety regulations and standards, especially in outdoor settings.
• Legislation around personal health information to ensure the confidentiality of all records containing personal information.
• Occupational Health and Safety to assess workplace safety and complete work in accordance with established procedures including the use of personal protective equipment and to provide emergency medical in various situations and settings
• Ability to operate and maintain emergency medical equipment and other necessary tools to ensure readiness for any situation.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
• Ability to respond appropriately and professionally to verbal and non-verbal cues and consider cross-cultural sensitivity when interacting with people
• Ability to interact with guests, staff, and other emergency responders, as well as for documenting incident reports as per legislation. To relay information and instructions clearly and calmly to a range of people.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
• Experience with word processing, record keeping, electronic mail and internet software applications to document incidents and provide documentation for management reporting.
JUDGMENT, ORGANIZATIONAL AND ANALYTICAL SKILLS:
• Assessment and decision-making skills to evaluate medical situations and determine the appropriate level of care.
• Problem solving and decision-making skills to perform and remain calm under stressful conditions.
• Ability to maintaining records and preparing emergency plans, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with a team and adapt to varying workloads and situations.
• Ability to assess the urgency of medical situations and prioritize actions based on expertise
