Physical Education Facilitator

The Hub For Beyond 21 Foundation (“Beyond 21”)

Position(s): 1 full-time position – minimum 36.25 hours per week
Location: Beyond 21 (1924 Pitt St, Cornwall, Ontario) *Working hours may also be within the community
Hours of Operation: Monday-Friday from 8:00-3:15p.m. *Some flexibility with hours may be necessary due to various events.
Salary: $22.70/hr, with annual increases

SUMMARY
Lead and facilitate activities for adults with developmental disabilities attending Beyond 21. Collaborate in the development and implementation of person-centred plans, monitor progress of goals, engage as a team member and support staff, participants, caregivers, and community partners.

THE ROLE

• Actively participate in the development and execution of PE programming to facilitate the physical, social, emotional and environmental well-being of all participants
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor or designate such as: cleaning work area or corresponding with families
• Responsible as Head Coach for the Jays Care Baseball Program
• Facilitate community participation and social integration, with a focus on physical education, movement, and education to support participants in their physical and social development by participating in social and recreational activities
• Assist participants with activities of daily living, including some personal care, medication administration, and mobility assistance, as needed
• Promote a safe and inclusive environment for all

QUALIFICATIONS

• Diploma in Developmental Service, S.S.W, E.C.E., E.A, P.S.W. or similar
• Current First Aid and CPR training and Behaviour Management Systems Training (BMS), or willing to obtain within specified period
• Previous experience working with individuals with developmental/physical impairments
• Previous experience leading physical education based group activities
• Strong ability to cope with stressful situations
• Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to work as a team
• Current Vulnerable Sector Check (less than 3 months)
• Ability to complete training and certifications as outlined by the Executive Director
