That's okay — and it's way more common than you think. We're here to help you figure it out without the pressure.

“I've never had a real job before.”

A lot of people start here. Whether you've done some volunteering, helped out at a family business, or you're truly starting from scratch; we work with you wherever you're at.

“I don't have a resume and I'm not sure how to make one.”

We'll build it with you. We help you put together a strong first resume, even if you don't think you have much to put on it. You might be surprised.

“I'm not sure college or university is for me right now.”

That's a completely valid choice. Working first can help you figure out what you're interested in, build confidence, earn money, and gain experience you can use later;, whether you go back to school or not.

How it works

We're your personal guide through the workforce. Here's what working with us actually looks like.
1

Reach out

Call, email, or drop by our Cornwall office.

We'll set up a time for you to sit down with a job counsellor who works with people in your shoes every day.

2

Build your game plan

Your counsellor gets to know you — what you studied, what you're good at, and what's getting in the way.

Together, you'll put a plan together: resume, interview skills, job search strategy, and where to look locally.

Get connected and supported

We don’t just point you to job boards.

We share local employer insights, help you prep for interviews, support your job search strategy, and stay with you for a full year after you start working — check-ins, advice, and someone to call if you need it.

How we help

Services and support, built around you — your goals, your situation, your timeline.

Resume building

Never written one? We'll build it with you.
Already have one? We'll make it stronger and ATS-friendly so it doesn't get filtered out.

Interview prep

Practice with someone who knows what local employers are looking for. We'll help you walk in with confidence.

Job search strategy

Stop scrolling job boards hoping for the best. We'll help you figure out where to look, how to apply, and how to follow up.

Local employer insight

Our team works closely with employers across Cornwall, Stormont, and Dundas. We can share what local businesses are looking for, what hiring trends to watch, and how to position yourself for opportunities that fit you.

Skills training

Need to build skills before you're ready? We offer hands-on training in areas like computer basics, workplace communication, and more.

Support that doesn't stop

Once you land a job, we stay with you for up to 12 months. Check-ins, advice, and help if bumps come up. We want you to succeed, not just start.

Questions we hear frequently

Connect with us

No. Everything — career guidance, resume help, interview prep, training, employer connections — is completely free. We're funded by Employment Ontario.

Our services are generally for individuals who have finished high school or are no longer attending school full-time. If you’re getting ready to graduate or have questions about eligibility, feel free to reach out to our team.

That's completely fine, and more common than you think. Part of what we do is help you figure that out. Your job counsellor will talk through your interests, your skills, and what's realistic in the local market so you're not just guessing.

Not at all. A lot of the people we work with are in the same spot. We help you build a resume from what you DO have — school projects, volunteering, hobbies, skills — and prepare you to make a strong first impression.

Not at all. We help students whether you’re planning to work full-time, taking a break from school, exploring what’s out there, or still figuring it all out.

Yes. We support full-time, part-time, and seasonal job searches. Whatever fits your needs right now, we’ll work with you to find something that makes sense.

That's what our job board and email newsletter is for.

We do something more. We get to know you, help you get job-ready, and personally connect you with employers. And we stick with you for a full year after you start working.
