Location: Ontario
Wage: $19.00–$23.50 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
Schedule: Monday to Friday, with evening shifts required
About Us
St. Lawrence Valley Animal Hospital is looking for a caring, dependable, and motivated Veterinary Assistant to join our team. We are committed to providing quality care to our patients and compassionate service to their owners.
We are looking for someone who enjoys working with animals, thrives in a team environment, and is willing to contribute to the daily operations of a busy veterinary hospital.
Responsibilities
* Assist the veterinary team with daily patient care and handling.
* Help prepare patients and treatment areas for examinations and procedures.
* Assist veterinarians and Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs) as directed.
* Help with surgical and dental preparation, patient monitoring support, and recovery tasks as assigned and permitted.
* Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary treatment, examination, and surgical areas.
* Clean and prepare equipment, instruments, and supplies.
* Provide compassionate handling and care for animals.
* Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients.
* Assist with general hospital duties and support the team wherever needed.
Qualifications
* Previous experience in a veterinary hospital or animal-care setting is an asset.
* Strong animal-handling skills and a genuine interest in animal welfare.
* Dependable, organized, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
* Good communication skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
* Willingness to learn, accept direction, and follow hospital protocols.
* Flexibility to work Monday to Friday, including required evening shifts.
